From personal experience, I have learned that people (interests) do get distracted when things have settled down. Life does get hectic =.) Also because they have grown accustomed to you being there and don't necessarily feel they have to keep as in touch with you. However, I have learned that when they start not making time for both of you two to be together, then you might wanna question things.

And about the whole EX thing. It is ridiculous how well me and my EX get along now that we don't have to deal with each others personal issues. Literally I can spend an afternoon at her house playing with our son and carry on a great conversation with her for the entire time. I think its because I am now not burden with her short comings. (she was a horrible procrastinator. Let her Drivers license expire, still hasn't done her taxes, never paid speeding tickets, etc) Now that she doesn't rely on me to solve her laziness... we get along great =.)
