private property?

I have a car that my ex girlfriend will not return. I have a agreement that was signed by her when i got the car. That she would return it to me if we split up. I paid cash for the car and have the recipt for it. Its paid for in full. Now ther is a Temp. PFA in place againts me. Because she lied to the court and that is not settled yet. I was told by the state police and my lawyer that i could take back the car as long as its not on private property. I need to know what is private property? If the car is in a parking lot is that private property? like her place of work. Store bar ect. is that taking it from private property?
We are both on the title and the registration. and the is no "and or" on the title.
