Summer-time single moms

Hello,

Are any of you single moms, and your kids are visiting their dad for the summer? This is my first summer without my little one. He is 5, and visiting his Dad for 7 weeks in Germany. (Dad is military.) It's been an emotional roller coaster for me. I've been trying to keep busy doing things I can't normally do when he's here... go to movies, work on home projects, join my co-workers for happy hour, sleep in late, etc. But I feel like there is a hole in my heart without my little guy. I have regularly scheduled calls with him twice weekly. But I feel so helpless if he cries on the phone or wonders why he has to stay there so long.

How do you other moms cope?
