I would love to use a lawyer as I agree that it lends more credence to the case bec judges do listen to them more - but how do I escape the conundrum that a judge will look at me with a lawyer and think that I should have just given the money to her.
I have already spoken with my kids about college and they totally agree with my mentality and are upset with her for pursuing this with me - I had to discuss it with them bec she told themt that their dad does not want to pay for their college - I had to explain to them that I could not afford it, student loans are not a sin and that they can work (as I did) as they attend school.
I cannot express enough how society has instilled in us the college marketing plan by brainwashing all parents (including myself) into thinking it is an entitlement and not a prvilige and something that every kid does after high school - some of my most respected colleagues never went to college and have worked in higher positions than me without ever going to college. I think nowadays, unless you're planning to be an engineer, lawyer, doctor or other profession, college is exceedingly overrated.
