I am new here but will give my 2 cents. It is too late for me I am a lost cause, but not too late for you. I should have taken the advice you are being given 25 yrs ago. I have unconditionally loved my ex since we were teens (we are 45 now). I was told to move on when we were engaged and she got pregnant by another and married him instead. I was told not to be friends and help her financially during their 10 yr marriage. I was told not to marry her when she left her marriage with no settlement and no child support. I was told not to change my name to hers and not to live next door to her ex. I was told to get a prenup. I was told to paternaty test our kids. I was told not to pay off our mortgage or her debts with my pre-marriage investments. I was told "I told you so" when she filed for divorce. I was told don't give her the house in liew of maintence and then rent it back from her because my potential earnings were so much greater than hers. I was told don't pay child support for kids that aren't yours. I was again told "I told you so" when I was evicted after losing my job and she remarried her ex. I was told not to work in their convenience store in exchange for rent on a tiny rental house of their's so I could move out of the homeless shelter. I was told don't clean house and do yardwork for them and some of their freinds and family for spending money and for support of the kids she had while married to me. I was told lose my married name and take back my maiden name. I was told no other woman would ever want me unless I got over her and changed my situation. I have heard them all but I love her so, unconditionally, since we were teens, till death (at least mine) which I hope is long off. I get to see and interact with her almost daily. They don't understand, I love her so much.
