It always baffles me that people expect their soon to be ex's to provide an education for them. Shouldn't the onus have been on the individual themselves prior to marriage to get educated? If not, then was education ever a priority in their lives in the first place?
Spinner, I had to. And I met her AFTER "college age" and married her well after. I went to school. She chose not to. I was her BF for 3.5 years before marrying her, when she was 24. Based on her birthdate, she should have started college at 18. I didn't even know her then. Yet, somehow, I was responsible to ensure she got an education. So I paid her and the CO specifically says it was to be used for educational purposes to enable her to become self sufficient.
She never set foot in a classroom. Not past the 12th grade anyway. She pissed it away on her "BF" whom she secretly married 1/2 through the alimony time. And it wasn't a small amount. About 10K a year, enough to go to state college and FOR SURE to go to community college.
What women need to do is what my mother did after she divorced my Dad. Get loans and grants and go back, which she did, and ended up with a Masters degree and became a teacher herself. And she made sure we all went to college too. We struggled as kids, no money, ect, our electricity or water were turned off on numerous occasions. We didn't even have a color TV until 1972 or so and it was second hand but we kids all ended up fine. My father was a very successful guy but she refused to ask for alimony and did it on her own.
