I seem to remember a similar post a year or so ago where you ran out of a christening because you felt uncomfortable. Then you sat in your car and cried. And no one came out to invite you back in so you left the party.

Time to grow up and realise this is about your SON and the woman he has chosen to marry. Yes, we will all have sad times when we remember how things 'should have been' and not dirtied with divorce.

But it isn't going to change. So don't go. Stay away and don't torture yourself with facing THAT woman and your ex husband. Don't worry that your son and his wife and her family will wonder where you are or what prevented you from coming. I mean it is perfectly understandable not to attend your own child's wedding because you will have your feelings hurt and maybe see your ex husband and his new wife.

I am sure you won't be missed all that much in future as you avoid these events like the plague. in time even the invitations will stop coming because your kids will know not to invite you because you either will run crying from the building or decline. Actually they may invite you to at least get a gift.

And when you have no family visiting you, you can blame your ex husband again and his wife.

Or ... you can take a friend along as a guest. Does your invitation include a guest? Choose someone chatty and who talks easily to others. Act as if this doesn't matter one iota. As long as you behave like the family tragidean you will be treated like one.
