I don't have an issue at all with my stepson talking to his mom about anything. Of course he should be able to talk with either parent. I do have an issue with the mom ordering him to call her very night specifically to tell her what went on that day in our house. That's very different, I feel, from just having general freedom to discuss anything with both parents. We didn't tell my stepson to stop talking to her or telling her anything. If he wants to continue calling her every night to report, of course we'll let him. It just feel really crappy to us.
