When you have children there are incurred costs. Utilities may not change that much. But a two and three bedroom apartment costs more than a one bedroom. Your grocery bill goes up. Children need clothes and lunch money.
Take for example my case. A one bedroom in my apartment complex costs $520 a month. I have two children so a three bedroom costs $735 a month. That’s an extra $215 a month.
I used to spend about $100 a month on groceries when it was just me. Now I spend $300 a month on groceries for me and two children. That’s an extra $200 a month.
And so on . . .
In addition child support is based on the NCP's income, not necessarily on how much it costs to raise the child. The child support one person pays will vary from another one depending on how much he or she makes. A person making $30k a year will pay less child support than someone making $100K a year.
