I'll give you what I know about the subject. In most of the studies done in the past, using men and women working full time, women make 70-74% or so of what men make.

Then you have to read the fine print. Full time is defined as working 35 or more hours per week. The problem is women work an average of 36 and men 41. Therefore, on an hourly basis, women earn nearly 90% of what men do for the same job. The jobs where there is a significant difference is upper management. Men usually make more in these positions.

I think men and women should make the same pay for the same job. The problem is, with the skewed stats, when equality is reached, women will probably make $1.20 for every $1.00 a man makes. If you want to know more on the subject, google "Dr. Sanford Braver" and take a look at his research.
