Im so frustrated by the whole legal process! My ex has threatened for years to ruin my life and Im determined to not let this ruin me but dang it sure is upsetting!

After years of harrassment he filed a modification and took me to court. Everyone agreed that his motion was total bs- pages of stuff that didnt even make sense. But since I couldnt just agree with craziness off to mediation we went. Then when the mediator realized there was no mediating with him it was terminated - but not before costing me 300.

Months went by and finally we went to court. Guess what? - the judge threw out everything in his modification. but instead of just dismissing it and making ex pay for court costs the judge felt it was better for me to fine tune the custody agreement. Yes it was vague and yes the fine tuning did help somewhat. Is ex still a jerk tho - Yes. and guess what? I have a 5000.00 bill to pay. I didnt do anything but stand my ground for the kids. When court was finalized my lawyer volunteered to write up the documents - one month later I learned that the lawyers had gone back and forth a bit to agree on the wording. It finally was signed by the judge and another 1000.00 was added to my lawyers fees. Great.

She then calls me last Friday and leaves a message to call her back on Monday. Not knowing what for and worrying what now I called her yesterday - she asks me if I want to pursue the fact that he is blocking my calls to the kids when they are with him. I told her no that I will manage. I then get a bill today - another 300.00. wow. I now owe thousands of dollars for something I did not start, nor did anything really change. Im working like crazy trying to make money to pay it off but I cant believe this is how the system works. It has taken me years to build up anything after being a stay at mom for 13 years. i am proud of my accomplishments but its so dissappointing that I have nothing extra because of a lawyer bill. So much for trying to stay debt free.
