Advise members of the Air Force policy that they are expected to provide adequate financial support to family members and the procedures which the family member may implement to obtain involuntary collection of support through garnishment or statutory allotments. See attached fact sheet, Attachment 1.
Follow the procedures. If you feel something is not right, or the Chain of Command is not following the AFI, you should see the IG, after you have notified the Chain of Command. The Chain of Command deserves at least the chance to try. Their number, and your number may not be the same, and adequate is a very subjective word.
There is a system in place for you to get support, one they have a duty to comply with, and remedies for when they don't.
The IG not only listens to complaints, but they insure that commands are following the AFI's. The IG cannot force a command to do anything, they can suggest things that would bring them in compliance, but it is always up to the Command to implement them.
Follow the AFI, the procedures outlined in it, and see what happens.
