Paternity Test & Other questions

My soon to be ex is saying I have to have a paternity test on our youngest child due to him being born before we were married. Ex's name is on the birth certificate. He isn't denying him being his son. He just said that the Army has listed him as a step child and that they require a paternity test to change that, and that it doesn't matter that his name is on the b.c. Our final decree is coming up next month and he will loose his insurance if I don't get this done. It is a $500 test so I want to make sure that this isn't some type of paperwork mistake. Ex won't help much about finding someone else to verify, even though he is supposed to pay half the cost of the test.
Also ex is demanding I give him back my military ID and decal on the car. I was going to turn it into the appropraiate office, I don't want to give it to him. He said HE has to be the one to turn it in, is this true? I just don't feel comfortable handing over my photo id,sS# and signature. But he wants it put in the divorce papers that I have 48 hrs to hand it over to him. Anyone know this proccess? Thanks!!!
