I think your wife shouldn't get any alimony, and certainly not lifetime, when she already has a career and is capable of supporting herself. If she's getting paid post-divorce for her contributions to the marriage, then why shouldn't you get paid for your contributions also??
That doesn't mean that she won't get alimony unfortunately, because our system is screwed up to the point where taking responsibility for one's *own choices* is considered unfair. Heaven forbid that a career woman's life should have to change to accommodate her own earning capacity and skill level after divorce; she should be allowed to supplement her support with $$ from the husband she's no longer married to.
Someone on here has said in the past something to the effect of "if you want me to still hand you $$ after the divorce, then you should still provide me the services you gave me while we were married". As radical as that may sound, in your case? THAT would be fair.
FTR, I am a career woman. I'd collect cans before I'd ask for $$ from an ex-husband; that would be a lesser affront to my dignity.
