My spouse also pays probably close to 90% of the cost it takes to care for the kids, as they are with us the majority of the time. NCP has never paid for a haircut, taken them school clothes shopping (and in fact, will send them home in too small, old clothes after they have worn new clothes over there until eventually, most of their new clothes are over there), paid for school supplies, yearbooks, extracurricular activities (yes, I know that's optional but we also think the kids being involved in something like that is important), and a myriad of other costs. Now the CP is also footing the bill for medical insurance, all uncovered medical expenses, etc. because NCP has decided priorities are elsewhere. We have a few friends who pay $800-1200 for ONE child and I do find that ridiculous. I don't think $200/child is an excessive amount, especially when the CP has them 80% of the time. But it is a step as the NCP was paying $100/child. Of course, if the CP isn't receiving CS at all, it doesn't really matter how much the CS is, does it? = )
I just wish some NCP's would think less about the money going to their ex-spouse and more about the money going to care for their child or children. The only people being hurt by someone who is not paying or underpaying CS are the children, really. And I know there are cases where the CP does NOT spend close to what they receive in CS on the kids. That is not the situation with us....we are covering hundreds of dollars a month in costs that are the responsibility of the NCP. They can't even take the kids for a $10 haircut once in a while, even when the kids ask for one while over there.
