I'm not biased against you and never have been and I think this is the single worst thing you have ever said. This is a 16yo GIRL, who apparently put up with the comments for several hours from FAMILY before calling her mom. My family is all about teasing and sarcastic comments but we don't torture each other to the point of tears for hours on end. These people should have had one person among them that had the common sense to see that the person being teased was upset and that it had become personal and not funny. This is her FAMILY and family shouldn't keep digging when they know the "teasing" is causing pain. It's not teasing when it's relentless.

We don't know this girl. Maybe she is struggling with her sexuality and it hit too close to home for her. Would you call it teasing if she was a lesbian or would it be an attack? Would it be ok if she were of mixed race and they called her names based on that?

Yeah, I agree with you a lot of times but not on this one. I teach my kids to ignore teasing too, but when it doesn't end and it isn't funny then they shouldn't have to ignore it, and if my kids couldn't find an inner strength to stand up to the person or group who was bullying them you can bet your @ss I'd be there to step in. I would never be ok with anyone, especially adults making them feel worthless.
