We were trying to be as civil as possible so I was not going through the court system. He was complying for the past year with no problems until he started dating a new girl. I do not work because I am a full time student and my son is special needs. He starts school this week and I am in the process of finding a part time job that will allow me to be there with him when he is not in school. The ex sees the children every other weekend. We don't have any sort of court orders at all at this time. I do not want to move away that far either, but I do not have any other options at all and he knows this. He abandoned us a year and a half ago because he was addicted to Oxycontin and other drugs and he has only been clean for 6 months. He still drinks a lot and so does his current girlfriend. When we first separated I was going to take the children to live with my parents 3 hours away in the first place, until he agreed to pay child support. He knows and has always known that is my only other option for support and for the kids to have stability if he does not pay what he has agreed.
