Here is my opinion regarding the 50/50 parenting time. It is a relatively new scheme (it's new in my state) and the fathers by and large are take on a task they re not ready for just because it seems like the fair thing to do. But every case is different, and you may actually be the better choice for primary physical custodian. Hard to know, because each side has their own opinion. For instance, you don't think much of her work ethic. She may not think much of your parenting. Court appointed GALs and therapists can help sort this out in the best interests of the children -- although try looking up a GAL online and see if there aren't plenty of hate blogs by he parties who "lost".
Best of luck to you.
50/50 is nothing new. The idea that children spend equal time with their parents has been more excepted as of late due to the realization that children grow up more balanced and with more confidence as long as both parents are doing their parts. There are just as many mothers out there that are incompetent as there are fathers. Gender doesn't effect this. The reason for the hate blogs your are reffering to are direct result of the court systems past history of raking fathers across the coals due to the dominance of men being the sole source of income in most marriages. Now that women are a strong force in the work place the courts are recognizing the ability for both parties to pay up their fare share AND that children deserve to have both parents in their lives.
