No more wrong than equating a sexual practice, or preference to race. Civil rights were not extended to only certain races, yet only certain sexual practices are now "normal"

That has nothing to do with the church, it has to do with a secular government. Who gets to set the legal standard, and it seems even some of those are ok, because they are "legal" .

So on the basis of consenting adults doing what they want, which is a good thing, why doesn't a religious organization get to do the same thing. If two consenting adults determine this is what they believe, and practice, and no one is forced to participate in their beliefs, why shouldn't two million get the same freedom.

You are saying sexual preference is fine, anyone can do what they want, as long as it is one on my list. But anyone else whose list is different, is wrong.

The FBI hate crime statistics show the numbers..

3,949 victims of racially motivated hate crime

1,552 victims of an anti-religion hate crime

1,528 victims based on offender’s sexual-orientation bias

48 victims due to the offender’s bias against a disability


4,824 victims of hate crimes were victims of crimes against persons.

7 persons were murdered, and 4 were forcibly raped
46.2 percent of the victims were intimidated.
34.8 percent were victims of simple assault.
18.4 percent were victims of aggravated assault.

Offenders

58.6 percent were white.
18.4 percent were black.
8.9 percent were groups made up of individuals of various races (multiple races, group).
1.1 percent were Asian/Pacific Islander.
1.0 percent were American Indian/Alaskan Native.
12.0 percent were of unknown race.

Population broken down by race

72.4% of the population is white
12.6% of the population is black
6.2% some other race alone (self declared, includes whites and hispanics mostly)
4.8% Asian
2.9% bi racial
0.9% American Indian or Alaska Native
0.2% Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander

There are alot of things you can take away from those numbers, a lot of stories that can be told. The goal is zero across the board, but the reality is different.

One thing you can take away is that if those are the numbers, for a country as diverse as this, with 300,000,000 people, we are doing pretty good on all fronts.
