Thank you Sherron for your support. I am newly divorced not even a year yet so I am still trying to get my barrings on how best to deal with my ex's non-payment. However I agree I cannot just turn off supporting my children like my ex can. If he chooses to not send in a support payment there isn't a direct and immediate negative consequence. If I choose not to pay daycare there is a direct and immediate consequence- I am not allowed to drop them off and since I won't have child care I can't work and I will lose my job. If I choose to not buy food to feed my children the state calls me a bad mother and my children are removed.
He really is choosing not to pay the support. I know this based on his previous actions and current actions.
To dedicateddad- I know my case may not be common but I support my family 100% without support and 98% when my ex actually does pay. I do not collect any sort of government aid or support. I sort of wish I did especially for times like this! But with my income I am not eligible. So in my case my ex does not support two households he doesn't even support his own since his mother owns the condo he lives in and pays his phone bill. He doesn't have a car so the only other bills he has is food, electricity and maybe cable?
