are ALL 17yo males this convinced of their invincibility and superiority?
---> Yes. Doesn't matter whether they come from 'intact' families, divorced/separated families, or with Al/Peg Bundy as parents or Ward/June Cleaver.
---> When my son was 17...just a couple of weeks shy of his 18th...he got popped with DUII and MIP (minor in possession). Get this...he was planning on pleading guilty...'cuz...ya know...he's a minor and a friend of a friend's second cousin's father's brother-in-law's best friend's wife's cousin's dog...he got slapped on the wrist.
---> I went ballistic! I called him up and chewed him up one side and down the other...I explained to him what exactly would happen to him if he plead guilty...jail time, lose of license, community service, classes, fines and court costs. I also mentioned that his girlfriend...who was living with him at Dad's...would NOT stay living at his father's house while he was in jail and by the time he got out (3 months), it would be VERY doubtful that she would be waiting for him.
---> So he agreed to get an attorney (PD) and plead 'no contest'. He had to take two alcohol awareness classes, he received a $1,000 fine and he lost his license until he was 21. IF he successfully completed the classes, paid the fine and stayed out of trouble, the DUII would be 'dismissed' when he turned 21.
