I guess I'm not understanding what the need on his part was to get married. If they were friends and he didn't need her money, but he had cancer, she could still be supportive, no? He could have said no to her proposal. How does being married to someone you don't love keep you from 'dying alone'?
And why would anyone marry someone they don't love just because they are friends? I have friends that liked me before this marriage, and who would probably still like to marry me, but how would that solve my current problem, if I don't love them?

Are your kids from him? Have you been seeing him the whole time they were married?

You started off asking if you could be legally in trouble because of your 'paramour' status. Is that still your question, or are you interested in what people think of the whole situation morally?
