Read all of the replies and not one asked what state you live in. Because, when it comes to child support and paying for college, that makes a huge difference.
In NJ, you would be paying both child support AND college for a child enrolled full-time in college. In other states, it's the same, in others, it's not.
It's all going to depend on the state you are in.
BTW, child support is for the the support of the child, not to save for college. Your position would not hold water in court at all if you are in a state that does have child support and college costs.
