Ex awarded car in my name. What are my rights??

Hi all,

This is my first post. Here's the situation: while married, I purchased a car for my husband's use in my name alone (his credit wasn't good enough to get approved for a loan). The car is financed with Mitsubishi Motor Credit of America in my name alone (won't be paid off until December 2013). The title, therefore, is also solely in my name. We wrote up an agreement which was notarized and submitted with our divorce papers. The car was named as community property and awarded to him. The loan was also listed as community debt that he was responsible for paying (and that I was to be held "harmless" for). He has been making the payments on the car since the we separated in July 2010 and the divorce finalized in June 2011. I have been pressuring him to get the loan refinanced out of my name so I was in no way financially liable for that car or debt. I have been informed by Mitsubishi that they don't care what the divorce papers say, I am responsible for the debt in their eyes ultimately because I am on the loan and their contract is with me. He "claims" he can't get financed because of his credit score/income, etc. which may or not be true. Regardless, I don't want to be on the hook for the car. I recently learned he may be relocating to Nevada and I am concerned that if I don't know his location or whereabouts he can choose to have the car and stop making payments on it whenever he wants. I'm trying to get advice on what my rights are and whether I can regain possession of the car since the title and loan are in my name. But I'm left confused since the divorce "awarded" him the car as his property but I don't believe the court was informed to the fact that although it was considered community property, it is in my name alone. Please let me know your insights or experiences! It would be a huge help!!
