Sons showing respect for their moms

Does anyone have thoughts on the correlation of how the Dad treats the Mom and the impact it has or will have on how your sons will show respect for their mom as a young son and then as an older son?

I meet young men and have seen sons who show love and respect for their moms in the way they view her and treat her. I am not talking about over the top adoration or anything to the extreme.

But I have heard young men say, its your mom and the way they say it is special.

I got to thinking that if the husband or X's in many of our situations didn't treat their wife or the mother of the children with that type of respect, then how do sons learn that?

And does this make sense?
