I guess it's all about what your family is like. Maybe getnadivorce doesn't have family members who try to take over? I know that raising my daughter, if I told her no, dad told her yes. He even went as far as getting her something I said no to behind my back many times. He assumed it was always because I couldn't afford something or other. But many times it was because I didn't feel she deserved it. But it didn't matter. If I said no, it obviously meant yes. ::sigh:: I also didn't like having every parenting decision I made scrutinized to the point of obsessiveness.

It was because my daughter was the only grandchild they had living close. They didn't spoil the other grandkids like this. They in fact seeded jealousy between them. My sisters both had arguments with my parents about how they treated my daughter compared to their kids. They both lived in other states. But nothing anyone could say to them would get them to see what they were doing. When you have family like that, the support may be good. But the damage may be worse.
