Name Change???

My ex is getting married and my ex or him, has insisted that they call him dad and now they told them they will have a new last name. They are 6 and 5 and they moved out of state 3 or 4 months ago. I have not recieved any legal work pertaining to this. What are my rights to make sure this jerk backs off. They live in Idaho.
