Daughters sweet 16 party

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I was kind of hoping to get a little insight and opinions on this subject. My daughter will not turn 16 until November. She has decided to have a " Swimming" party during summer break to celebrate instead of waiting until November to have it. The problem is, she wants to have this party at her dads who has primary custody of her. He has a small above ground pool that wouldn't possibly hold all of her guests. I tried to talk her into renting the park pool. She refused. I told her that I would end up feeling like a GUEST at my own daughters party if she had it at her dads. She was hurt and just would not understand my view. I get along well with her dad and her step-mother, but I just found out tonight that the party has already been scheduled without my input. I told her that I hoped her and her friends had a lot of fun but I would not be attending. I told her I would have a party with my family and some of her friends in November. Was this fair of me? I really need an unbiased opinion. THANKS!!
