The Ex strikes again - Kinda funny...
      09/07/06 11:35 AM

Over the past 12 years I've maintained a very nice relationship with my former mother-in-law. My wife has also been a part of that for the past 10.

Three years ago former MIL moved into a very lovely, six-bed assisted living home following the first of two hip replacement surgeries she's had. She's turning 89 next week.

Two years ago I wrested custody of my youngest daughter away from the Ex who proceeded to move 450 miles away to be near her mother and sister and actually started her first-ever full-time job working for the owners of the assisted living home but in their second facility.

Former MIL and I used to talk at least once a month. If I failed to call, she'd call me. She is the last surviving grandparent my five children have so I've thought it important to stay in touch.

Lately the telephone conversations have been short and rather terse on her end so I stopped calling and she hasn't contacted me. Come to find out from one of my daughters that MIL was booted out of the home (probably for her imperious attitude that she can definitely have) and is now living in a large, multi-level facility - the same one her mother lived and died in about 20 years ago.

Why do I see the Ex's fine hand in the loss of a relationship with her mother? Since she doesn't have the children and her friends here to talk smack to about me I'm sure her mother and sister have been getting earfuls and the result is the loss of the relationship.

If it wasn't so pathetic it would be rather humorous. I think the Ex will live to be 110 (she's 55 now) out of spite because it will take her that long to defame me to her heart's content.

More power to her. It really affects me not at all, If MIL wants to start believing her daughter after all these pleasant years then she's not much better. Perhaps the apple really didn't fall far from the tree!

What me worry. I'm retired!
