shoud i give him half

I filed our taxes and recieved a refund of $2972.00. He thinks he deserves half, but we are not divorced yet and have only been sperated. No divorce papers have been served yet or anything with the courts. He is still paying the bills because I haven't moved yet and I'm waiting till school is out which he agreed on. So do I have to give him half of this even though we are still married? Will he be able to go back and ask for half once the divorce is filed. He doesn't plan on getting an atty, but I have one. I live in Louisiana and can't find anything in the laws regarding this.
