Basic Tax Question(s)

I have a couple of quick questions regarding income tax when it comes to divorce (sorry if these have been brought up before). I am considering a divorce and want to be as informed as I can.

If I separate and file (for divorce, not taxes) before the end of this year, and I am not able to get figures on what she ended up making in income for '07, is that going to mess things up in April '08 when I do my taxes?

Is there a way to file, a form to change, etc. so that each of us is 'kinda' only worried about what they did, though I know it won't be that simple.

The good thing for us is that the house is basically the only issue we're dealing with.
