drop domestic abuse charge? NO WAY!

My soon to be ex wants the domestic abuse charge that is against her dropped as part of our divorce settlement, I can not do that, the state is pressing the charges. My question is... My attorney says we need that conviction in case she tries to come back in a year or so to get custody changed. Thats why I think her and her attorney are pushing me on that. My attorney advised hers that if they bring it up again for me to drop charges.. we could charge them with witness tampering. Does anyone know anything about circumstances to have a change in custody at a later date, as long as I am doing well with my kids, why would they change it?
