11 Year Old with Anxiety Attacks

My 11 year old was invited to a Halloween Party last week. I didn't ask too many questions because this is the 3rd Halloween Party she has gone to with this group of kids. That was a mistake. They decided to watch Scary Movie III. My daughter has never seen a horror movie and she was horrified.

She's been in a state of uncontrollable fear ever since. She won't shower. She won't go into a room by herself. As soon as night falls, she grabs hold of me and won't let go. She won't eat because she is looking behind her, constantly. I had to keep her home from school one day.

It's been a week. She told me tonight that she is afraid she is going to die tomorrow because the movie said that anyone who watched it would die 7 days later. She's not joking. She really believes this might be true.

I've never seen the movie. My ex watched it this week and is so ticked off at the parents. He says the horror wouldn't phase us (since it's a spoof) but the sexual content was exceptionally inappropriate for 11 years olds. The horror scared my daughter since she wouldn't understand a horror story "spoof" since she's never seen a horror story.

It breaks my heart to see my daughter like this. She tried to go trick-or-treating but was so frightened that we had to turn around almost immediately. She's literally shaking with fear.

Are there any suggestions on how to deal with this? Anyone face anything remotely like this?
