Christmas parties to date or not to date

I have a newbie question. This is my first holiday divorced. I still live in the neighborhood I lived in with my ex. My friends in the neighborhood always do a house to house christmas party. I have chosen to participate again this year. I do not have a date to have with me at this event. I could ask a guy friend but thought that would make it awkward since he would not know anyone. Also I have several family parties to go to as well.
Should I just go it alone?
