How much time do I have to hire a new lawyer?
      02/04/08 07:47 AM

I just spent $25,000 and two years defending the actual value of my business in divorce hearings (to base my support on), and now the opposing lawyers want to sell my business to give my wife 50% of it. I owe my lawyer $17,000 more and she will not continue unless I pay her that $17,000 plus an additional $10,000 retainer. Since I do not have that money now, and the opposing lawyers want a trial ASAP, how long do I have before I have to have a new lawyer ready? I need about 1 year to make that much to pay off my lawyer and put down a new retainer.
