Financial issues and a controlling/abusive ex

I was married 3 1/2 years to an abusive and controlling man. He would not give me money or put my name on anything joint. However he also suffered from severe depression from time to time and left me responsible for shopping for groceries etc. He gave me the credit cards to use or a blank check at that time. He also had no problem with me signing his name to the back of a 20,000 check from my grandmother, and many other smaller checks from her as well. Can he legally have me prosecuted now for doing this? He's of the mindset if he can't have me, he'll destroy me.
