How would you all handle this?

We picked up the boys Friday night and when we got home I noticed what looked like a bruise on SS5's neck. I started looking at it and it was a friggin hicky (sp?). I asked SO about it after the kids got into their movie. He stated that yeah he had seen it and was not happy at all.. He had asked BM about it and she stated that the kids ( her SO's girls ages 5 and 4) started this thing where they where biting and sucking on the boys necks. SO told her he was not happy about it and said it needed to stop. She laughed and thought it was no big deal. We had a talk with the boys and told them it needed to stop. Both SO and I are really bothered by this and find it very odd. How would you all handle something like this?

All has been quiet on the home front with her so no we are not look for a fight. Just wondering if we should just think of this as kid stuff or something that is more serious or could become serious.
