Mediator question

Does the mediator take into consideration the emotional issues that are happening? My wife is leaving me for an old b/f and totally blindsided me. I have been to counseling, need anti depressants, the whole thing. Or do they just look at assets? Would a judge consider emotional stress in his/her decision? thanks
