Restraining/Protective Orders

How common are RO-PO in divorce? Are most filed to retaliate for whatever reason in divorces? Ex has threatened me many times. One of the main reasons is that he doesn't think the decree was fair and says he won't do this that or the other just to cause me harm. Calls me every name in the book and said "it's not over until your dead". I don't think he would harm me like that, but mentally torments me with his threats. He has some "secrets" that he would not want exposed that could affect his career. So what he does is this...if you ever tell then I will not pay you/abide by the order and you will lose. I call it blackmail for my silence. I feel at this point for both parties is to have a mutual RO. He knows how to push my buttons and has abused me for years in a sadistic way. He has narcisstic/passive agressive ways. He will lie about anything. I have tried to work with him on about every issue until I finally gave up. It has been difficult for me to cut all ties being a 25 yr relationship. I felt that part of my body was cut off. I depended on him I guess to much to be at least honorable but he has gone to the extreme of cruelty to make me suffer. Do Judges see through people like that? Do RO/PO have an affect on employment? Thanks for any advice.
