THE DOG
      12/14/04 07:49 PM

Anybody out there have custody battles about THE DOG? You see we have a great dog. Right now we have an ornery messy foul mouthed teen and there is no disagreement about his custody. We equally endure him. But it is THE DOG that we are fighting about. I bought the dog, walk the dog, groom the dog and bring him to the vet. This dog was even featured in a commercial and he thinks his middle name is CUTE cause that is what everyone says "He's sooo cute"--and the soon to be ex used to wink at the gals that said that and say "Why Thank You!" which always irritated the heck out of me when we walked the dog together. Anyway the dog used to treat me like a potted plant and even if I had slathered pork chops all over my face he still would have ignored me (he favored Dad) but now that I am the sole keeper of the kibble he thinks I am kinda special and we are starting to develop a good relationship and communicate kinda like when June Lockhart used to say "Lassie What's Wrong?" and Lassie would bark in response warning that Jimmy was in the well. OK now MOMMA is DEEP in the well and THE DOG seems to realize that and gives me soulful looks and curls up next to me. Anyway the dog sleeps on the bed and is ever so loyal now. But in an evil twist of fate the soon to be ex (THE DIVORCE ATTORNEY) says that the dog likes likes him best and that it would be better emotionally for the dog if he was with him. My husband says he is gonna bring in an Animal Behaviorist (sort of a doggy shrink I guess -Do People Actually Make a Living at This!??!Certainly not in Alabama!) to determine what is best for THE DOG. I am currently trying to convince my husband to buy his own damn dog. Hubby likes to hunt and this dog sleeps on his back on a leather couch and all the hunting he has ever done is to figure out where the can of Mighty Dog Prime Cuts is SO THAT DOG DEFINITELY DONT HUNT) and not to get into a legal custody battle about THE DOG. Frankly I think he only wants him as a chick magnet. Thoughts?
