CS Modification???

I am a custodial parent receiving child support for my daughter. I have been dovorced for a little over a year now and I am wondering if I should go back to court to get my CS adjusted.
My ex-husband refused to sign the divorce decree at the state calculated amount (TX) and I couldn't afford to pay my lawyer to go thru dicovery and go to court so I went ahead and signed it with my lawyer saying we can come back later and seek a modification.
My ex only pays about half of the state calculated amount and he just got a major promotion at work and his income is now even more. However, he has our daughter exactly 50% of the time and won't budge on letting me have her more.
Should I try to get a modification? I really need the money as I only make about a third what he makes. Should I wait until the 3 years has passed and get free services from the AG office or go thru a lawyer?
Is there anything I am missing here?
