Maintenance Award

Does anyone know what my ex-husband would need to show/prove to the court to get maintenance awarded. In my divorce I have sole custody of my 3 children, was given all the marital debt, no child support and my ex was given a year to fight for maintenance which the judge reserved. The ex knows I receive my annual raise and bonus in February and his attorney has stated that he will be filing motions in February to go after maintenance and for me to have to pay his 40K in fees. The judge has put me into a position where I am already 2000K in the hole each month which is documented on my income/expense and I can validate with backup documentation. Thank god for good friends and family or my children would not be eating. So... does anyone have any idea what proof he would be able to show in court to get maintenance?
