How often does NY really consider "other factors" in combined parental income over $80000? My H makes over 100K a year while his ex just started working again and is probably making between 15-20K/yr...

Also a question is are people allowed to pick their own judges in support court? We don't want to do this, but I am wondering if she has? We seem to keep getting the same woman and she always sides in favor of her... 17% for one child would be $1500/month and we have two kids of our own. She also has two kids from two different men, and never actually keeps a job for an entire year (usually 9 months tops). We also pay travel expenses to see his child since his job took us out of state. ADDENDUM D under support guidelines mentions "extraordinary expenses incurred by non-custodial parent in exercising visitation" however this is only if the judge looks into these factors, she could just say "you have to pay 17%" regardless.

Ex claims child's expenses have increased, last modification she went in for it was right after her 3rd daughter was born- the day AFTER she got out the job and didn't work for a year after. Now "child's needs have increased" yet she has invited a exchange student to live with her family and her friend's daughter because her mother cannot afford her (this is what my husband's 15 year old daughter told us)! So it seems to me that the household needs have increased, not their child's. She recently married her third child's dad. Any info would help! Thanks!
