liens on property during divorce

My husband and I have been seperated for 1 1/2yrs. Recently I received a letter from a lawyer addressed to him stating that they were placing a lien on our horses for unpaid boarding bill. If not paid they would be auctioning horses off. My ? Is...if we were to file for a divorce now would that temporaily prevent them from being about to auction them as they would part of our divorce and would need to be divided equally.
