plane tix purchased for xmas, now ex changes mind

Hi, new user here.

my ex and I agreed that because the kids would be flying in to spend the christmas holiday with me this year, that I could have the second half of the winter break (the ex's by statute) in addition to the first half (mine).

we made the agreement in late october via text message, i purchased plane tickets for over $3500, and then confirmed the dates and flight details with the ex about 3 weeks ago, via email and got a "sounds like a plan" response.

now that the dates are drawing near, and because we have a disagreement over child support (i am fully compliant with all court orders btw), the ex is now stating that parent time for all future holidays will be done according to the letter of the law in terms of the holiday parent time statute, and has basically decided to change their mind about what they previously agreed to.

our kids (boys ages 3, 5, 7) have been super excited to come and spend two weeks with me, and they have been counting down the days until they get to come and visit, and they bring it up first and foremost every time we talk on the phone or skype, or I fly out there for my monthly visit.

the text messages show a clear linkage in terms of the flow of the conversation that this decision is being made out of spite and retaliation toward me.

do I have any recourse or am I SOL?
