My wife hasnt worked since our first Child was born 5 years ago. I have made decent money (40K) for about the about the first 5 years and really good money (150) for the last 2 ( 7 years of marrige) How is allimony and child support caculated in Oklahoma? I have agreed to take all debt except the house.

Thanks

the only thing i have been told is alimony is based "on her need" and "your ability to pay". Alimony and the house is the only thing left we have to agree on. She wants 1700 a month...and I am only willing to pay 1300 a month. She is a hairdresser. She was a hairdresser before we got married (14yrs ago).

What I understood was alimony is not forever. It is based on the time you were married which in your case will probably be about 5 or 6 years. It is designed to allow someone who has stayed home with the children to get an education or further their career. (If she stayed home with the kids, she was working) Maybe if she had been cutting hair for the past 5 years she could have secured a place in a nice salon, built up a really good clientele and wouldn't need your alimony. It is to allow her time to get back on her feet and support herself and your children.
