I got forced into a divorce I didn't want, and due to the stress of the situation, I never bothered to retain a lawyer. I guess I just thought it would go away if I didn't participate. About a month before our case was scheduled to go to court, I filed motions for relief from the judgment and for a new trial, but both were denied. I am now divorced and bound to live by a divorce agreement prepared by a court-ordered mediator that I signed under duress. I don't agree with the terms of the agreement and would like to appeal the judgment and get a new trial. I've spoken with a few lawyers, all of whom have told me they will represent me and file the appeal, but it will take time and be very costly. Does anyone have experience with this? What are my chances of being successfuly appealing my divorce judgment in Massachusetts?
