I have the option of filing in MD, where my spouse lives, or NC where I live. It is obviously more convenient for me to file where I live but are there other strategic advantages to choose NC over MD or the other way around. Relative to actual divorce law in both states, I see no significant differences that sway me one way or the other.

You should probably compare grounds, child support (if applicable), spousal support/alimony and property division laws between the two jurisdictions. If there are no significant differences it really just boils down to convenience--more convenient for you to file in NC but more convenient for her to file in MD.
