Term Definition Soldier and Sailor Civil Relief Act of 1940 (SSCRA) - a federal law governing (and protecting) military personnel from certain applications of civil law.
Application in Divorce This act became law on the eve of World War II when the United States enacted a peacetime draft. It is designed to protect servicemen who, by virtue of being in the military and away from home, might not be able to judgment against them.

SSCRA provides protection for servicemen and women and their families, and it may enter into the timing of divorce actions.
