Indiana Divorce Mediation, Counseling and Parenting Classes
Indiana Divorce Mediation:
The judge "shall determine" whether mediation should be required, considering the ability to pay, and whether "mediation is appropriate in helping the parties resolve their disputes " in any dissolution, separation, support, custody or visitation action, at any time the court issues an order (other than ex parte). [Annotated Indiana Code; 31-15-9.4-1, 31-16-6.4-1, and 31-17-2.4-1]. Indiana Marriage Counseling:
The dissolution of marriage may be delayed up to 45 days to seek counseling when either spouse or the court believes there is a reasonable chance of reconciliation. [Annotated Indiana Code; Title 31, Article 15, Chapters 2-10 and 9.4-1]. Indiana Parenting Class:
Parenting classes are at the discretion of the judge.
